Agency, Public & First Nations Consultations

blstUnderstanding a project’s environmental, economic and social impacts is critical to permitting any resource project. DST routinely assists proponents to develop early and meaningful consultation with First Nations, Public and Agencies.

Consultation with First Nation and nearby communities typically starts with visits to the community by the proponent and DST representatives. These meetings must be initiated at the earliest project phase to ensure the proponent develops a positive relationship with key community leadership.

DST encourages proponents to engage in consultation with Federal and Provincial regulatory agencies at early stages of the project. This effort, when guided with DSTs experienced staff often results in information sharing agreements and assists with permitting the project. The specific scope of the baseline and EA studies is typically guided by the results of early communications with these agencies as they are responsible for permitting the project.
