Geochemistry

GeochemistryThe prediction of minesite drainage chemistry is an integral part of mine design and impact assessment. The quality of water draining from a mine must be shown to meet strict environmental regulations and water quality standards. Issues such as acid rock drainage (ARD) and metal leaching (ML) have the potential to produce severe impacts on the surrounding environment, potentially for perpetuity, and may impact the feasibility of a project. For this reason, effective prediction of minesite drainage chemistry will allow for proactive project design and decrease costs for mitigation or treatment. DST has years of experience providing ARD-ML assessments for mine development projects and mine closure plans.
