We are currently seeking an immediate full-time Project Manager, Hazardous Materials for our Technical Services Client group based out of our Vancouver, BC office.  

About the Job

The Project Manager is responsible for leading and directing multi-disciplinary Technical Services, geosciences, remediation, groundwater and soil related projects. Primary responsibilities  may include:

  • Coordinating projects in one or more of the following areas;
    • Waste Audits and Designated Substances/Hazardous Materials Surveys; 
    • Environmental field projects including Phase I/II/III ESAs, Site Remediation, Specifications and Tender Documents, Site Supervision, Demolition Consulting, Fuel Tank Audit/Management/Remediation;
    • Pre-construction surveys, vibration monitoring and damage claim assessments;
    • Infrastructure projects including bridges, roads, tunnels, rail, water, sewer, etc. 
  • Coordinating, supervising and performing research and field responsibilities;
  • Generating and assisting with preparation of deliverable documentation such as technical reports, summaries, data sheets, graphs, proposals and qualification packages;
  • Managing and/or generating deliverable documentation of various projects including technical documents, research projects, case studies, and non-technical reports;
  • Preparing proposals and qualification packages;
  • Conducting technical peer reviews of technical reports;
  • Consistently executing prescribed technical procedures and work plans;
  • Participating in project management meetings, office meetings, health and safety inspections;
  • Actively marketing DST products and services to new and existing clients through business development initiatives including tradeshows;
  • Maintaining a commitment to exceeding client expectations by consistently delivering high quality of work;
  • Consistently maintaining professionalism and objectivity while working with colleagues and clients who require varying degrees of support;
  • Handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts; and
  • Conducting project administration tasks as required, including timesheet generation and project invoicing.

About You

  • Undergraduate degree required;
  • A minimum of 4 years work experience in performing hazardous building material surveys, indoor air quality assessments and associated reporting;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of related supervisory and/or management in a consulting environment;
  • Experience writing proposals, specifications, case studies, technical and non-technical reports required;
  • Solid understanding of provincial and federal regulatory requirements acquired through experience and education;
  • Ability to travel to remote areas and for extended periods of time as required;
  • Possession of valid driver’s license required; and
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain security clearance required.

  • Ability to multi-task and maintain focus in a busy work place;
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure;
  • Comfortable marketing our services to existing and potential clients.
