We are currently seeking full-time Intermediate Project Manager - Hazardous Materials for our Technical Services group based out of our Vancouver, BC office.  

About the Job

The Project Manager is responsible for leading and directing multi-disciplinary infrastructure, geosciences, remediation, groundwater and soil related projects. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Conducting projects in the indoor and outdoor environmental field, including Phase I/II/III ESAs, Site Remediation, Specifications and Tender Documents, Site Supervision, Demolition Consulting, Fuel Tank Audit/Management/Remediation, Waste Audits and Designated Substances/Hazardous Materials Surveys; 
  • Coordinating, supervising and performing research and field responsibilities;
  • Managing and/or generating deliverable documentation of various projects including environmental technical documents, research projects, case studies, and non-technical reports;
  • Preparing proposals and qualification packages;
  • Conducting technical peer reviews of environmental reports;
  • Consistently executing prescribed technical procedures and work plans;
  • Participating in project management meetings, office meetings, health and safety inspections;
  • Actively marketing DST products and services to new and existing clients through business development initiatives including tradeshows;
  • Maintaining a commitment to exceeding client expectations by consistently delivering high quality of work;
  • Consistently maintaining professionalism and objectivity while working with colleagues and clients who require varying degrees of support;
  • Handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts;
  • Conducting project administration tasks as required, including timesheet generation and project invoicing.

About You

  • You are a Professional Geologist (P.Geo) or Professional Engineering (P.Eng)
  • You bring a minimum of 3 years’ Project Management experience in a consulting environment, specifically, experience with Hazardous Material
  • You possess experience writing proposals, specifications, case studies, technical and non-technical reports and a solid understanding of provincial and federal regulatory requirements acquired through experience and education;
  • You hold a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record; and
  • You are eligible to obtain government security clearance.

Additional skills needed for success in this role

  • You are organized with superior planning skills in order to effectively and efficiently problem solve and tackle new assignments. 
  • You are a strong researcher and technical writer who is presents information concisely and clearly; 
  • You possess strong listening and interpretation skills, an ability to retain salient points, synthesize information on complex issues, and then coherently communicate these verbally and in writing;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams of 1 – 10, including overseeing contractors and subcontractors.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to scheduling changes and occasional overtime, evening or weekend work to meet our clients’ project needs;
  • You thrive in a busy workplace and can handle multiple projects and tasks and maintain focus to meet tight deadlines.
