We are currently seeking an Intermediate Project Manager - Geotechnical in our Ottawa, ON office.

Key Accountabilities/Activities

·         Leading geotechnical and geo-environmental projects for the private and public sector;

·         Supervising and managing ground investigations, laboratory testing and geotechnical instrumentation;

·         Conducting analyses and developing design options;

·         Managing and/or generating deliverable documentation of geotechnical projects including technical documents, research projects, field supervision and coordination, case studies, and non-technical reports;

·         Developing technical procedures and work plans;

·         Preparing proposals, bid documents, contracts and specifications including cost estimates;

·         Conducting office based research involving reviews of existing geological and geotechnical information including interpretation of aerial photos and digital maps;

·         Planning, scheduling, preparing cost estimates and overseeing ground investigations;

·         Scheduling and overseeing laboratory testing;

·         Analyzing field and laboratory test data, characterizing ground and groundwater conditions;

·         Analyzing ground models to determine slope and excavation stabilities, retaining structures and stress deformation assessment using established geotechnical and geological software;

·         Providing design recommendations for shallow and deep foundations, ground improvements and ground engineering options;

·         Conducting technical feasibility studies, cost benefits analyses and environmental audits;

·         Preparing factual and interpreted geotechnical reports;

·         Ensuring staff are trained, instructed on and operating in compliance with Health and Safety regulations;

·         Establishing and maintaining a mentoring relationship with technologists and technicians to support growth and retention;

·         Consistently maintaining professionalism and objectivity while working with colleagues and Clients who require varying degrees of support;

·         Handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts; and

·         Performing other related duties as required.



·         Undergraduate degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering required, post graduate preferred;

·         Professional Engineering license required;

·         Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Geotechnical Engineering activities either in academic or industry; and

·         Valid Driver’s License is required.

·         Strong research and technical writing skills, ability to present information concisely and clearly;

·         Proficient with use of MS Office, GeoStudio, gINT, AutoCAD, RocScience, CAPWAP/GRLWEAP, ArcGIS, SurfSEIS/SWAN, VB.Net;

·         Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills;

·         Excellent project and financial management skills;

·         Strong organization and planning skills;

·         Ability to understand and focus on new ideas and concepts to coherently communicate in writing;

·         Strong listening and interpretation skills, ability to retain salient points and synthesize information on complex issues;

·         Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;

·         Ability to effectively and efficiently problem-solve and tackle new assignments;

·         Ability to delegate and supervise the work of others on specific projects;

·         Ability to handle multi-tasking and maintain focus in a busy work place;

·         Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure; and

·         Comfortable marketing our services to existing and potential Clients.
