Bioremediation

A significant fuel spill on the shores of an international waterway required DST to design and implement a comprehensive in-situ system to treat the contaminated soil and permanently rehabilitate the site.
  NOWPARC Project

DST developed an innovative concept for remediating an historical creosote contamination in Thunder Bay harbour on Lake Superior. The solution was a simple one - isolate and manage the source, remove the unacceptable sediment for bioremediation, and lake filling to manage level contaminants while creating new fish habitat and supporting the sustainability of waterfront industry. The solution brought together 3 industrial and 2 government entities for funding.

The Light Rapid Deployment (LRD) Unit


Rather than transferring your environmental problem to a landfill, DST eliminates the contaminants on site and therefore minimizes future liabilities.

The on site apparatus is light and can easily be moved and deployed.

Utilizing our portable bioremediation unit (LRD) in a case study, DST reduced total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) from 11,800 ppm to less than 100 ppm in 28 days. Bioreactor conditions remained constant even though outside temperatures dropped below -20 deg. C.
