Mould growth occurs naturally in many environments, and, given the right conditions, can become a problem indoors. Mould is commonly recognized as a potential health hazard and because mould growth can occur quickly following wetting events (e.g. floods), prompt action is paramount. Mould can also become a problem during building renovations and demolition, when previously concealed mould is uncovered inside wall and ceiling cavities.

DST works with building managers, insurance adjusters, project designers, and restoration contractors to quickly identify mould problems, provide recommendations for timely remediation, inspect remediation work, and provide air samples and a final report documenting that mould has been appropriately removed. The key to client satisfaction on our mould projects is providing a quick and appropriate response to mould proliferation, reducing potential health and safety concerns and lost productivity/profit in the workplace.
DST can provide the following mould consulting services:
 • Mould Investigation – Identification of mould through visual inspection, review of building history, interviews, etc. Investigations of concealed conditions can be performed using moisture meters, boroscopes and/or infrared thermal imaging. • Sampling and Analysis – The collection and analysis of samples (e.g. air, dust, tape lift, and/or bulk materials) can be used to confirm the presence of mould and to assess impacts to building areas. All sample analysis is performed by accredited laboratories. • On-site Analysis of Samples – If required, DST can provide immediate, on-site analysis of samples by a professional, accredited mycologist. • Mould Remediation/Abatement – DST provides all aspects of mould remediation consulting, including: cost estimation; specification development; remediation inspections; collection and analysis of air samples; and summary reporting. • Emergency Response – Each branch office has the capacity to respond quickly to mould emergencies. Working closely with restoration contractors, we can usually contain the mould problem the day we receive an emergency call. • Mould Prevention – DST can provide recommendations to prevent future growth specific to your facility. • Mould Awareness Training – DST provides various levels of training regarding mould, from basic awareness to hands-on remediation for contractors.
DST would be pleased to discuss how any of the above services could meet your needs.
