 Halocarbons Minimize
Halocarbons are chemical compounds that are used as refrigerants and are considered to be both ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and greenhouse gasses.  Federal and provincial regulations govern use, management, storage and disposal of halocarbons.  DST can identify the regulatory requirements that impact your facility, with the intent of helping you manage halocarbon-containing equipment properly, from cradle to grave.  After a brief consultation with DST personnel to identify whether or not these regulations impact your facilities or activities, the first step in managing halocarbons is to prepare a complete inventory to identify halocarbon containing equipment in use and in storage. Once the type of equipment and types of halocarbons are identified, regulatory requirements can be determined, and a halocarbon management plan can be developed.

Detailed halocarbon compliance audits can be carried out to verify your existing halocarbon management program with respect to staff training, equipment maintenance, storage, disposal, records retention, and emergency response to leaks.  Audits are completed using a combination of checklists, comprehensive site inspections, interviews with maintenance personnel, and records reviews.

DST has completed over 100 halocarbon and ODS inventories and compliance audits.  DST has also developed guidance documents, checklists, and standard operating procedures that have been implemented nationwide by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) to ensure halocarbon compliance within federal facilities across Canada.

We would be pleased to discuss with you how we can meet your halocarbon consulting needs.
